George
Zimmerman, the neighbourhood watch volunteer acquitted of the murder of
Trayvon Martin, has been charged with threatening his new girlfriend
with a shotgun, police confirm
George Zimmerman has been arrested and charged again after sheriff’s deputies were called to a reported disturbance at a home in Florida.
Mr
Zimmerman, 30, is being held in prison without bail on charges of
aggravated assault with a weapon, battery and criminal mischief.
Samantha
Scheibe, 27, told police that he had pointed a long-barrelled shotgun
at her inside the Florida home that they shared, broke a table and then
pushed her outside before using furniture to barricade the door.
Police
said that he did not resist arrest and was not armed at the time they
arrived, but that they believe there were at least two weapons inside
the house. Mr Zimmerman will make his first appearance before a judge on
Tuesday afternoon.
The
sheriff's office said that the latest disturbance was reported at the
home that Ms Scheibe rented in Topfield Court in Seminole county near
the town of Apopka, 15 miles from Orlando. She did not sustain injuries,
said Dennis Lemma, chief deputy with the Seminole county sheriff's
office.
